Programs

All programs at Treetops-in-the-Forest are based on the mission of the 501(c)3 non-profit (A.L.E) to provide each participant those experiences through which awareness of the impact of his or her choices and actions on present and future environments will be acquired and understanding of humanities will be enhanced.

Programs for Parents and Young Children

TTT - Treetops Tiny Tots, a parent-education program based on Richard Louv's Last Child in The Woods, encouraging nature experiences during infancy. Please call for more information.

A Day in the Woods, for preschool children and their parents or grandparents to spend a day at Treetops-in-the-Forest exploring the natural world together. Please call for dates. (No charge. Bring a picnic lunch.)

Programs for School Groups

Weeklong in-residence sessions for organized groups from public*, private, charter, and Montessori Erdkinders on a range of environmental topics related to the humanities. Maximum group size is 24-25 children, plus one teacher/sponsor per 4-5 children. (* The curriculum for public schools includes TAKS/TEKS correlated content.)

Programs for Special Focus Groups

Sessions may be scheduled by request for Talented and Gifted, Academic Decathlon, Ap Environmental Science, Texas History and Folklore, Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Creative Arts, Habitats in Literature, Math and Science, Sustainability, Global Awareness, et al. Minimum group size is 10 students.

  • Academic Study Retreats for University Classes
  • School Faculty Planning Retreats
  • Individual Teacher SBEC Professional Development Retreats
  • Teachers are welcome to form their own group (minimum of six) for Study Retreats
  • Labyrinth Walks and Workshops for Teachers in Church School settings
    (Weekend Retreats with Lodging and Meals - suggested donation of $50 per teacher)

2010 Calendar

Ongoing Programs Organized school groups (including scouts and home schools) are invited to book their own four to six day stay. Call to select dates and topics. Rates per child are $75 (4 day) or $125 (6 day). One teacher/sponsor per five students free.
